This portrait session in Atlanta’s Historic Oakland Cemetery was a great opportunity for me to get on the other side of the lens for a change! I love exploring new and unique areas of this city, and having my sister in town was the perfect reason to have an adventure. She loves modeling for me, and this time it was my turn to hand over the camera! I love how these turned out. It’s true that, being a photographer, I HATE being on the other side of the camera. I’m so much more comfortable being the one taking the shots! I can pose clients all day but I always feel weird posing myself. Having my sister as a hype girl was the perfect thing.
This cemetery session was so fun because it pushed the boundaries of my normal “style” without creeping (see what I did there?) too far into the moody scene. It’s always fun to capture some work just for me – to keep those creative juices flowing! Experimenting like this helps me to be the best photographer I can be for my clients, because it helps me be prepared for a multitude of situations. Family session in a cemetery? No problem, bring it on!!
It’s also fun to be able to share my own face on here every now and again.
You can check out my sister’s session here and see what I mean when I call her a model.
