December always makes me excited for a number of reasons. One, obviously, is the impending holidays. The other? It’s graduation season for fall college graduates! I love capturing senior portraits because they are such a time of triumph. Graduating is a huge milestone that is often the culmination of years of study. From high school to college to professional graduations, I love celebrating the big wins and special moments in my clients’ lives. And being able to capture senior portraits in Auburn, Alabama? It’s a double win!
I captured this session the day of Auburn’s spring graduation. We popped bottles of champagne with impressive spray before heading into the ceremony and walking across stage. Waiting until the day-of for grad portraits can be tricky, though, especially on a large college campus like Auburn. There can be a lot of other people in the background or in line for the same photo locations, such as other grads. If possible, I recommend picking up your cap and gown early and scheduling your session a week or more in advance. This will overall help reduce the stress of graduation day and allow you to just enjoy the ride!
For high school graduates, I recommend scheduling your session even earlier. It’s typical to have your high school senior session months in advance (such as in the fall/winter for spring graduates) so that you can have grad announcements made and sent out in time for the ceremony. If you are interested in assistance with designing announcements, ask me about my design services!
These beautiful ladies were awarded their Masters’ of Education degrees by Auburn University earlier this year, and are going on to do great things for kids in Alabama! War Eagle!
