While I don’t shoot a lot of formal dances anymore, there have been a few memorable formal events that I have had the honor to capture. Between all the high school girls’ club dances, homecomings, proms, and college sorority balls, this prom from a couple years ago has to be one of my favorites.

Honestly, two-piece dresses didn’t really become a fad until I was past my high school days, but this girl seriously rocks it. I love all the pinks in that skirt – gorgeous – and the way Cam’s tie and boutonniere match with those bold pinks in her corsage? Seriously, swooning. They nailed it.

It kind of makes me miss my own school formals. Maybe. A little. Having a big dinner with all of our friends, getting dressed up and taking pictures, going to the dance and promptly just sitting down until the DJ put the right boogie on… Okay, on second thought, those dances always ended up just being a little too awkward if I’m being truthful. But the after parties watching movies all night in pj’s with the gang – man, I lived for those.

Time to practice my dance moves for the next formal session. Maybe I can eventually redeem my awkward high school self, who knows? Catch ya on the flip side.
