To brighten up the cold dreariness of Atlanta weather the past few weeks, I’m going to be featuring some of my favorite memories from a girls’ trip to Oahu that I took in spring of 2019. Making the snap decision to fly across the world on budget airline tickets (talk about six hours on a plane with no backseat tv or movies!) with three girls I had only just met was one of the best decisions of my graduate school career. My grandmother lives on the Big Island, and I had been to Hawai’i a couple of times before to visit her. This was the first time exploring the other islands, and getting to do so with new friends was so much fun. From crashing on a couch for a week to malasadas to hiking to waterfalls to seeing Pearl Harbor, I would do this trip all over again in a heartbeat. I especially can’t get enough of all of those lush greens.
Since we can’t really travel right now, clinging to memories like this are so very treasured. Follow along as I feature the first of several blog posts about our gorgeous trip, and escape to Hawai’i with a visit to Ho’omaluhia Botanical Gardens. Aloha.
