When I was in grad school still in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, I used to commute to my internship in Raleigh three days a week from our small apartment in Carrboro. This drive was anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour one way, and I was desperate to do anything to make it interesting. One way I did so was by cutting through the UNC Finley Golf Course in order to avoid a couple lights of backed-up traffic in Chapel Hill. I came to love those cut-throughs, and they always served to center me and remind me to take a deep breath and slow down. I loved when there was frost or snow on the rolling hills of the golf course, or in spring when the pink flowers would start to bud. The white fence running the length of the course became a favorite spot for portrait sessions during all seasons of the year. One fall sunset, I dragged my friend Angela out here for some fun, casual headshots as the sun dipped down below the hills of the course. Needless to say, she rocked it.
Stay sweet.
